Meet Sela

Hi, I'm Sela! I am a storyteller photographer located in Vancouver BC. I first picked up a camera when I was nine, and brought it with me everywhere. I became obsessed with documenting moments with family and friends. My love for documenting evolved when I got to art school.
I used to see photography as a way of creating “Instagram” images, or just taking selfies with friends; not so much as a way to create art from everyday life. I remember in one of my courses at university, somebody showed me a photograph that changed how I saw documentation photography. The image was of a couple and it was so ethereal, artistic and beautiful, I instantly fell in love. I knew right there, that that is what I wanted to create; images that feel natural and crafted with care.

Creating documentation images that tell stories for my clients is what brings me joy. I pride myself on creating a comfortable environment for my clients; one where we feel like friends.
Storytelling, connection and intentionality are the three core values of my photography. I feel inspired by the quiet beauty of candid moments to create images that feel as heartfelt as the stories behind them. Photography is so much more than just making an image—it's a way to capture a story, preserving love in its truest form.
Information:
"Do you travel?"
I do! I absolutely love traveling, especially when I get to do photography! Travel prices change depending on where you are located. Email me to get more information!
"What should I wear?"
Whenever clients ask me this, I recommend staying away from loud patterns, nothing too busy to distract from you! Neutrals and solids are always my favourites. Wear something you feel comfortable and confident in to move around. If you need further inspiration, I have a Pinterest board with some ideas on there!
"Do you offer film photographs?"
I can offer 35mm film photographs as well as digital images. I can do colour, or black & white, whatever your preference! Film is an added charge for developing and scanning the negatives.
"What should we expect?"
Whenever I do a photoshoot, I understand how nerve-racking it can be to stand in front of a camera. I love to play music, and always have a speaker on me for more intimate sessions (portraits, couples, engagements, family, etc.). I will always be talking to you! If you feel stiff and don't know how to pose, I will help you! I always tell clients that my photo sessions feel more like video than photo; act as if I am taking non stop video of you to get the most natural and candid looking images.
